Movin' On Up

We have finally moved into our new house! Nine months since signing the contract, we started moving last Friday. What a pain in the ass! Although we have everything moved, a lot of it is in boxes in the Garage. This weekend will entail moving most of this to inside the house. The new house is twice the size of the old one, so there is plenty of "space" to store all this stuff.

Selling a house has got to be the most stressful things a person can go through (especially during a softer market). We put the house on the market in late January. Although we had many people come by to look, we didn't get an offer until April. That offer fell through when the prospective buyer realized there was no on-street parking. We got another a couple of weeks later. However, this was a real estate agent wanting to turn the house into a rental. She determined that the property would not bring in enough money to make it worthwhile. The third offer was the charm. Then the process of home / termite inspection, appraisal started. All the while we were crossing our fingers that the buyers didn't back out. Well, we signed on June 9th, and signed for our new house on the 13th. Our old house closed on the 14th and the new house closed on the 16th. Talk about a close call!

Inphonic - Update

Last Thursday I had a pleasant surprise waiting for me at home. There was a FedEx envelope with a $300 check inside! Inphonic actually made good on their rebate. Although it was only after numerous e-mails / phone calls and a complaint to the BBB, it was still nice to get the rebate, when I had resigned myself to chalking this up as a learning experience. I guess persistnece pays!

Inphonic

If you ever have a chance to buy something from an online company named Inphonic, DONT! They are very restrictive when it comes to rebates. They make you wait six months in hopes you forget, and then you only get 30 days to submit it. God forbid you make a mistake on the submission. They will notify you of the error, but not in time for you to correct it.

The 70's

Thanks to Julie's website http://www.stuckinthe70s.com, I've been totally immersed in 70's music since last Thursday. Not saying I wasn't listening before, just not as much as I am now. I've got my iPod (w/ iTrip) playing 70's while driving, and listening to SIRIUS 7 on Dish Network while working around the house. If SIRIUS was able to reach Hawaii, I'd be in heaven. Listening to this music has brought back some wonderful memories of growing up in Whittier, CA.

Home renovations / PBA Tour

I am beginning to hate home renovations. All of the floors are complete. We've installed laminate flooring in the kitchen, downstairs bathroom, stairs, and upstairs hallway. This was in addition to the laminate flooring already installed in the living room / dining room. We've also installed ceramic tile in the two upstairs bathrooms. Crown molding was put up last weekend. What a pain this was! If the miter settings aren't correct, the joints don't join together correctly and you end up either trying again or using caulk to correct the gap. Friday night / Saturday was spent painting subject molding. After two coats, it looks damn good for a couple of amateurs. The next step will be re-painting the living room / dining room to better set off the crown molding. All of this in preparation of selling come the first part of '06.
Home Depot knows us by our first names.

Yesterday morning felt like Saturday afternoon in the 70's. ESPN Classic aired 6 back to back episodes of the PBA tour from the late 70's. Kind of interesting seeing the styles from back then. There weren't the crankers you see today. It was more of an outside line to the target. The only bowler that I remember being a "cranker" was Mark Roth. And even he wasn't too bad compared to the bowlers of today.
